Abhimanyu Singh of Gulaal fame has joined the star cast of the Akshay Kumar-starrer Bachchan Pandey. He will be playing the main villain in the Farhad Samji directorial venture.
The film will reportedly see Akshay Kumar play the role of a gangster who wants to become an actor. Kriti Sanon, who has been cast opposite Kumar in the lead, will essay the role of a journalist who wishes to sit on the director’s chair, while Abhimanyu Singh will play the main antagonist in the action entertainer.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh had shared the news about Singh’s addition to the cast of Bachchan Pandey. He wrote, “ABHIMANYU SINGH TO PLAY BADDIE OPP AKSHAY KUMAR… #AbhimanyuSingh to play the villain opposite #AkshayKumar in #BachchanPandey… Directed by #FarhadSamji… Produced by Sajid Nadiadwala… 26 Jan 2022 [#RepublicDay] release (sic).”
Earlier, it was reported that Bachchan Pandey is going to be an unofficial remake of Veeram. However, it is now being said that the action drama is set to follow a fresh screenplay.
Akshay Kumar had also taken to his social media account to share his look as the dreaded gangster from the motion picture. He had written, “His one look is enough! #BachchanPandey releasing on 26th January, 2022 (sic).”
Before Abhimanyu Singh joined the star-studded star cast of the actioner, Arshad Warsi was roped in to play the role of a struggling actor. His character is said to have shades of comedy, which is reported to be integral to the film’s narrative.
Besides, Akshay, Kriti, Abhimanyu and Arshad, the feature film will also star Jacqueline Fernandez.
The principal photography of Bachchan Pandey commenced in Jaisalmer on January 6, 2021, and the film will also be shot in places like Jaisalkot and Gadisar Lake.
The Farhad Samji directorial venture is gearing up for its festive release on the Republic Day weekend of 2022.
