Following the reprised version of Anil Kapoor and Manisha Koirala’s classic 1942: A Love Story song, the makers of Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga have unveiled the quintessential wedding number ‘Ishq Mitha’, which delves a little deeper into the characters of Sonam and Anil Kapoor in the film.
The peppy track begins with a happy family celebrating the grand mehendi ceremony, as a shy Sonam Kapoor looks on. Soon after, Anil Kapoor joins the party who dances to his heart’s content, at what seems to be his daughter’s wedding. Sonam reluctantly joins her father on the dance floor, where she is introduced to the character of Akshay Oberoi.
Sung by Harshdeep Kaur and Navraj Hans, ‘Ishq Mitha’ is a recreation of the ’90s popular Punjabi number, featuring Malaika Arora and Jas Arora. The music for the newer version has been composed by Rochak Kolhi, with Gurpreet Saini’s lyrics.
The coming-of-age romantic drama with Rajkummar Rao, Sonam Kapoor and Anil Kapoor, is speculated to showcase a love story between a homosexual couple.
This is the first time that the father-daughter duo Sonam and Anil will share the screen space. In this context, the actress had said that though they have been offered a lot of films in the past, this one was apt for them to collaborate. She said, “I never found authenticity or idealism in any of the other films. I felt nobody besides me and my father (were apt) to do Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga. We are glad to know that we were the first choice of the director”, as per an earlier report.
Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga, produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Rajkumar Hirani in association with Fox Star Studios, is slated to release on 1 February.
