Hindi version earns Rs 18 cr on day 2, bringing up total to Rs 38.25 cr

Rajinikanth’s ambitious sci-fi saga 2.0 has been one of the most anticipated films of 2018. After an amazing start at the box office on its first day, the Hindi version has raked up Rs 18 crore on Friday, which the film’s second day of release, bringing up the total (Hindi version) to Rs 38.25 crore.

The weekend collection for the film is expected to be high as advanced bookings for the shows continue. BookMyShow sold over 2.2 million tickets for the film till Friday noon.

The film has grossed approximately Rs 73.5 cr on its first day (all versions).

2.0’s narrative revolves around the ill impacts of technology on mankind. It has faced its share of controversy. Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) has given a legal notice to the film producers (Lyca Productions and Dharma Productions), alleging that the science fiction action film portrays phones and mobile towers in an erroneous way. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) was even asked to revoke the certification of 2.0 owing to that. However, recently, the producers have come out and refuted the claims stating that the film is only a work of fiction.
