Indian cricketer Ajinkya Rahane bowled over by Suriya’s Soorarai Pottru

Indian cricketer Ajinkya Rahane is currently in Chennai to play the series against England. On January 30, he conducted a question and answer session on Instagram where he revealed that he had watched Tamil film Soorarai Pottru. A fan had asked if he had watched any Tamil film or a web series till now. Rahane revealed that he watched Soorarai Pottru with subtitles.

Ajinkya Rahane won everyone’s hearts when he captained the last two test matches against Australia. The cricketer is in Chennai to play his next series against England. The first and second test match against England will take place in Chennai.

The cricketer who is under quarantine in Chennai conducted a Q & A session on his Instagram page. One of his followers asked, “Welcome to Chennai, have you ever watched any Tamil movie or series? (sic).” Rahane said that he watched Soorarai Pottru.

He replied saying, “Yes, I watched Soorarai Pottru with subtitles. And absolutely loved it! Brilliant work by @actorsuriya ! (sic). Rahane then asked his teammate Ravichandran Ashwin to give him film recommendations.

Ravichandran Ashwin reported Rahane’s post on his Instagram story and recommended him Vijay’s Master, which is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

January 26 was one of the most unforgettable days for the entire Soorarai Pottru team. On that day, the team of Soorarai Pottru received a series of e-mails from the Academy Awards committee stating that the film has been selected for the next round of screening under the categories – Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Director, Best Original Score and many more.

Producer Rajsekar Pandian took to Twitter and wrote, “Happy Republic Day! #SooraraiPottru joins OSCARS under General Category in Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Director, Best Original Score & other categories! The film has been made available in the Academy Screening Room today (sic).”

Soorarai Pottru is now available in the Academy Screening Room and will take a long time to get to the final nomination. Directed by Sudha Kongara Prasad, the film stars Suriya, Aparna Balamurali, Paresh Rawal and Mohan Babu in important roles.
