Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt is kicked about making her Telugu debut with director SS Rajamouli’s big-budget flick RRR. The period drama brings together Ram Charan, Jr NTR, Ajay Devgn and Emma Roberts in significant roles.
It is now rumoured that Alia Bhatt’s role in RRR is more of a guest appearance. Sources close to the team reveal that she will appear in a few scenes and a song. Predominantly, RRR will showcase Jr NTR, Ram Charan and other men. Unlike Baahubali, RRR will not have strong women characters, according to a source.
Reacting to the rumours about her screentime, Alia, in an interview to an entertainment portal, said that she is least bothered about the length of her role in Rajamouli’s film.
She said, “After I was launched by Karan Johar I had two dream directors on my wish list. Sanjay Leela Bhansali and S S Rajamouli. I don’t care about the length of my role in RRR. Just working with him is enough. I’ve taken lessons in Telugu to do this film. Can’t say I speak the beautiful language like a native. But I am trying.”
As reported earlier, Alia Bhatt is taking Telugu lessons to play her part to perfection. She is paired opposite Ram Charan’s character, Alluri Seetharama Raja. She is expected to join the sets sometime in September in Hyderabad.
RRR is produced by DVV Danayya on a huge budget of Rs 350 – Rs 400 crore. Speaking about the film, Rajamouli, at a press meet, said, “RRR will be a fictitious tale about 2 real-life heroes, set in pre-independence times. We are mounting the film on a very big scale. There’s a lot of research involved over the past 2 years.”
The period film, which is set in the 1920s, will hit the theatres on July 30, 2020.
