After roping in South actor R Badree, Kabir Khan’s ’83 has another addition to the cast. It is the very talented Marathi actor Adinath Kothare who will be playing cricketer Dilip Vengsarkar. Adinath, is known for his great skills as an actor as well as director and producer. And most importantly, he is the son of veteran Marathi actor Mahesh Kothare and is married to another talented Marathi actress Urmila Kanetkar. The film that will portray India’s historic win at the 1983 cricket world cup, will see Ranveer Singh playing Kapil Dev in this biopic. Many others have already joined in to play the various team members of the then cricket team. The last we heard, R Badree had joined in to play Sunil Valson. Apart from that, ’83 has a strong supporting cast including Ammy Virk, Sunny Kaushal, Tahir Bhasin, Hardy Sandhu, Vijay Varma, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Chirag Patil and Tamil actor Jiiva.
Here’s the tweet from the official Twitter handle of the movie and an Instagram post by the excited actor himself:
As per reports, the unit of 83 will do a training schedule in Dharamshala and will bond with each other. The cast and crew will then head to Scotland and London to kickstart the shooting of the film. The biopic will see a slew of South as well as Marathi stars which is being slowly revealed by the makers, Adinath and Chirag’s inclusions being part of it.
Meanwhile, Ranveer Singh has already started prepping hard for his role as the winning team’s captain. These days, the superstar is being spotted with a handlebar mustache just like Kapil Dev’s and he even mimicked his bowling style at a recent awards show in the presence of the cricketing legend himself.
’83 is being produced by Vishnu Induri and is slated to be released in April 2020.
