MeToo: After sexual harassment allegations, Anu Malik ousted as a judge of Indian Idol 10?

A couple days back singer Shweta Pandit took to social media and accused Anu Malik of sexually harassing her in 2001 in a recording studio. Anu Malik denied all the allegations and termed them as baseless and later lyricist Sameer Anjaan came to his defence and stated that he was present at the time Shweta is talking about but no such thing happened. However, earlier today two unnamed woman too alleged that Anu had harassed them and accused him of sexual misconduct.

Anu Malik recently gave music for Varun Dhawan and Anushka Sharma starrer Sui Dhaaga – Made In India and is can be seen on TV as one of the three judges in singing reality show Indian Idol 10. But, now a report in Pinkvilla suggests that he has been asked to step down by Sony TV, the channel on which the reality show airs. The report further states that since the time the sexual harassment accusations against Anu Malik came to the light, the channel was having an internal discussion about it after which they decided to oust the National Award winning music composer from the show. The report also states that the official announcement of Anu’s ouster will be made in the morning.

The other two judges on the show are Vishal Dadlani and Neha Kakkar. The thing to be noted here is that Anu has been associated with Indian Idol since its first season and has been the judge on all the seasons except for the two seasons of Indian Idol Junior.
