Bharatiya Janata Party’s ally in the Central as well as Maharashtra government, the Shiv Sena on Monday demanded that the National Democratic Alliance government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi bring in an ordinance to start construction on the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. Shiv Sena’s Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut said the government has brought in ordinance to ban instant triple talaq and amend the SC/ST Act and can do the same on Ram Temple as well.
“We demand that like you (Centre) made a law on triple talaq and brought an amendment in the SC/ST Act, bring an ordinance for Ayodhya Ram Temple as well. There’s majority in the Lok Sabha and State Assembly and we have our President to sign the ordinance. So instead of talking, bring the ordinance,” Raut told nes agency ANI.
The remarks came a day after Raut wrote in Shiv Sena’s mouthpiece “Saamana”, asking the Centre to “demonstrate courage” and begin the construction of Ram Temple at the disputed site in Ayodhya.
The Shiv Sena leader wrote that vote-bank politics would come to an end in the country if Muslims give their consent to construct the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. The Ramjanmabhoomi-Babri Masjid dispute is pending before the Supreme Court as present.
Raut said there was no basis to allege riots would break out in the country if the construction of Ram Temple in Ayodhya began. “The Narendra Modi government should demonstrate some courage and commence Ram Temple construction by issuing an ordinance,” he said in the article.
