Megastar Chiranjeevi on Thursday took to Twitter to confirm that he tested negative for the novel coronavirus. In his tweet, he revealed that his earlier test results, which indicated that he is Covid-19 positive, was because of a faulty PCR-kit. He had also attached his latest Covid-19 test results with the tweet. Chiranjeevi is now expected to resume the shooting of his upcoming film Acharya.
Chiranjeevi on November 9 took to social media to reveal that he tested positive for the novel coronavirus. After testing Covid-19 positive, he decided to get a CT scan done at a private hospital in Hyderabad. The CT scan results showed no signs of infection or damage in his lungs.
This is when the doctors doubted whether he contracted the virus or not. The doctors at the hospital tested Chiranjeevi thrice in three different PCR kits, in which he tested Covid-19 negative. The doctors then concluded that the actor’s initial test report was faulty.
Taking to Twitter, Chiranjeevi wrote, “A group of doctors did three different tests and concluded that I am Covid negative & that the earlier result was due to a faulty RT PCR kit. My heartfelt thanks for the concern, love shown by all of you during this time. Humbled! (sic).”
The Acharya team resumed the film’s shoot this week after eight months. Ahead of the shoot, the actors and technicians went for a mandatory Covid-19 test. It was during this test that Chiranjeevi tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
In a statement, the Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy actor wrote, “Took a test for COVID before resuming ‘Acharya’ shoot as a protocol and unfortunately tested positive. I am currently asymptomatic & quarantining myself at home. Request all those who met me in the last 5 few days to also undergo covid tests. Will update you on my recovery soon.”
After Chiranjeevi tested positive, the makers of Acharya went ahead with the shoot without him. Now that he has tested negative for Covid-19, he will soon resume work. Directed by Koratala Siva, the film also stars Kajal Aggarwal and Ram Charan in the lead roles.
