It all seems redundant now but we can say this for a fact – fashion still need flagbearers and more importantly fashion police to flag things that no one is proud of. Not even the makers! Because let’s admit it even with the entourage that stars today walk around with, styling is the crucial stepping stone for any look. And while B-Town peeps think they can fool one or two with the airbrushed photoshoots under sanitised conditions ultimately, it’s the public eye that catches the glares that need to be captured.
So, from Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone’s punch-lacking flower power, and from Malaika Arora and Bhumi Pednekar’s event-ready ensembles, these stunners were victims of fashion faux pas. Even Vidya Balan’s saree story is a sorry state of affairs. Have a look!
Priyanka Chopra is a phenomenal actress but she is an even capable producer who left no stone unturned to promote her recent release The Sky Is Pink not just here but in the West too. But while she is never not slaying, this floral Zimmermann dress didn’t bring much to the table. Neither the ruffles nor the chunky belt worked with the flow and you can see the result for yourself.
Another floral story gone wrong is Deepika Padukone in this floral maxi dress with a similar ruffled neck. While peach and pink are pallette-fit for Deepika, the length and breadth of it all didn’t work for the diva. The only grace was her high pony and even higher spirit with an undeniable charm.
Malaika Arora is a stunner and there are no two ways about that but this ensemble by AM:PM didn’t do justice to her bold and outgoing personality. While chunky jewellery is always a go-to accessory while styling ethnic outfits, here the presence of too many made the embroidered jacket difficult to look at! Not to mention, the make-up which frizzled her shine. Also, is that a Dhoti pant, is that a skirt? Either way, it doesn’t sit well with the top.
Bhumi Pednekar recently stepped out in a sheer Reem Acra gown in ice-blue and it was thanda, to say the least! The actress who has pulled off risque outfits earlier, looked pale and in need of better styling than that hairdo and stones on the ears and fingers. At least bright eye glam? Something?!
Not sure if Vidya Balan was trying to channel old-school charm but this silver georgette saree from jade by Monica & Karishma Couture is a lot of things at once and that mars the effort. With mesh detailing and scalloped border, the saree came with a complementing jacket with sheer border and let’s just say, ‘the more the merrier’ doesn’t work always. Not here at least!
